The Stubborn Poppy

This spring I am weeding out my flower beds and came upon thistlely weeds....

....I dug them up and threw them in a un-gardened corner of the backyard....

......lo and behold one day I am in the backyard and....poppies....those thistlely weeds were....beautiful red poppies!

I will be moving them over to my perennial beds.

Diane

I will be joining the Rednesday party at It's A Very Cherry World

A weed by any other name would be sweeter!

Paraphrase by me.

Well wasn't that great, turned out to be poppies. Thanks for sharing this at Rednesday.

Poppies are persistent!

COLOR DILEMMA

Yellow or red—which shall it be?
Red for you and yellow for me?

Perhaps you’d rather have yellow instead—
Which leaves me, of course, with handfuls of red!

Whichever hue you decide to choose,
I’ll take the other—no one will lose!

That's funny. I was at my neighbours yesterday as she was weeding her flower beds and we thought the same thing. We almost pulled out the poppies!

Weeds will grown where nothing else will. Glad these poppies made it with weeds and all.

I love your poppies. I was so tickled when an entire field of them popped up just down the road from us out here in the country. There is something about them that is so captivating. They are just toooooo pretty. genie
