The Canadian Royal Tour

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
arrive in Canada
Thursday, June 30, 2011

Their first official Commonwealth country tour as husband and wife.
Our future King and Queen.

July 1 - Canada Day

One of the biggest Canadian parties, is Canada Day on Parliament Hill.

The Queen

Last July 1, 2010 Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip partied with us.

The Queen of Canada in red and white on July 1.

The Queen loves coming to Canada.  She especially loves the West.
The Queen....she rocks!

The Prince and Princess of Wales

In 1983 the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Canada for the first time.
Diana arrived wearing.....red and white.

As hard as I tried, I could not find a coloured pic of them arriving in Canada.

She wore our colours as often as she could.
Her birthday is - you got it - July 1.....she rocked too!

She loved wearing outfits with spots and favored red and white.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

So I am hoping that Kate does not disappoint.
Dig out your red and white Kate, your subjects are watching!

I love the warm breeze coming off the water.
I love listening to the sounds of the beach.

Baby Christening Gown

I bought this sweet Christening gown a few years back.

No particular reason, I just thought it was so sweet.

Both my own children were Christening in their father's heirloom gown.  I remember I really wanted to buy a brand new one for my daughter's Christening, but in the end I stuck with tradition....her Dad had been christened in the same gown.

Time will tell if my daughter or son will christen their children in the old family heirloom gown or buy a new one.

This little gown I bought off e-bay.  It is too small for a baby, but can be put on a doll or teddy bear.

The Country House in "Signs"

As I plug away each day decorating my house, I pour my love of vintage and country decor into my hertiage house.

One house that gives me great inspiration would have to be the house from the movie "Signs".
Starring handsome Mel Gibson.  Directed by genius M. Night Shyamalan.

The rambling two story was built for the purpose of this movie, as well as the crop of corn, on 40 acres rented out from the Delaware Valley College, Pennsylvania.

In the story Mel plays a priest who struggles with his faith after the tragic death of his wife.
He lives with his son and daughter, along with his brother.
One morning they wake to find crop circles on their farm, and eventually they have to defend their home from aliens trying to invaded them.

His brother lives in a room above the garage.

I love this movie, but I fell in love with the decor.
A cozy household with home written all over it.

Love the quaintness of the kitchen.
A room that could hold long hours of conversations around that table with a cup of tea.

Some shots of the dining room

The master bedroom

I look around my own house and see decor from this movie that has inspired me.

My vintage stepping stool.
Now have a look at the red stepping stool in the movie's kitchen.

In my living room I have a vintage Roxton cane chair.

Check out the one used in the master bedroom.

Taking refuge in the basement during the attack.  Check out the vintage treasures!

***
Even after the attack on their home, the country home stood tall.
Some broken windows and some furniture knocked about, however the lovelies were dusted off and moved right back into place.
I just love the look of this classic country charm.

What I Love About Wednesday

I am joining in on the fun week at Lollipops
for
What I Love About Wednesday

**********

I love so many things, were does one start....

I love milkshakes

In nearby Grand Bend, there is a restaurant that makes the very best milkshake in the land.
Not to mention french fries and gravy....just heavenly!

I love my flatware collection both new and vintage.

I got these beauties in Kamloops, BC.
Will have to get out the old tarnish remover and they will be as good as new!

I love renovating and decorating my sweet and beautiful heritage home.

We just got back from a year in BC and I am still tweaking away with this and that.  Painting this room, drywalling that section, hanging curtains for that window....you know old houses, they are indeed a work in progress!!

Tablescaping

Love the look of a beautifully set table.

Fresh cut flowers

But most of all, I love these two people - my daughter and son  :)

Choosing Husband #2

Since it is the season of love and marriages,
let us have a look at who might be a good choice for me for husband #2.

Having been married once before, I will want to get it right the second time around.

Let's have a look at some of my options....

***

George Clooney

Okay....he would be everyone's choice, but he is just to beautiful.
I would always be starring at him!!

Don Cherry....Mr. Hockey Night In Canada

Nope.....just not my type.  Beside, I am going to bet I would never get a word in edgewise!!

Prince Andrew, Duke of York

I am sure I would make a great Duchess of York and I think that Andrew would be a kind and easy person to fall in love with.  However I do not want Sarah Ferguson hanging over our marriage.....and you know she would!!

Mel Gibson

Yes, yes and double yes!
But, can I live with that temper?.....darn it, I just love this man....
...okay.....let's try again...

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Hmmm....maybe not, I'm too old to have a baby.

Hmmm...well that didn't work....let's go to Plan B

Now that we have exhausted who's who, let's go with what's what..

A Cowboy

Well, I have lived out West and although I saw tons of Cowboys, I just didn't meet any.  Maybe I should have bought a horse?

A Rocket Scientist

Well, let's see....it would be a smart idea to marry one, however he might be a tad too smart for me.

The Nice Man Next Door

Pic from Internet

A good choice for me I am sure -  a kind, sweet, loving man next door - with lots of money.
However, the only problem I am never home to meet him.
I am either Globe Trotting or living elsewhere.
P.S. ... oh boy...even the man next door looks like Mel - the heart wants what the heart wants!

***

Okay all you matchmakers out there....who would be your choice for me to marry the second time around??

My Son's 15 Minutes of Fame

For the last couple of years, my son and some of his buddies have put together a rock band.
They will meet on the weekend to jam, hang-out and have fun.

Each year their school hosts a musical summer showcase.
He participated last year and again this year.

Here is the video from this year (last week).
My son is on bass guitar, the one in the black shirt and red t-shirt.....you know....the handsome one!

I am the proud mamma of this future super star.
Maybe two big singing sensations will come out of Ontario!!
Make room .... you know who!!
