A Pink Weekend

Happy pink weekend!
Have any plans for the weekend?
So far is it a quiet, uneventful weekend?
Well my friends, just follow me and and my pink little weekend.

Think we can all fit into my car?
 Who wants to drive?

Well, since we are out and about lets go visit some of the parks.

Okay, okay......so the car is a little bit squishy......let's take the bikes.

Good thing I wore my sweater, it is a little chilly.......let's head back to the house.

Awww........home sweet home.

Yes I know.....pardon the tall grass, will have to get my gardener in for that chore.
Oh wonderful.....he gets here immediately.

So, do you like my new ring.
Lovely isn't it.

With all today's fresh air and activities, maybe you would like a little nap.

Or take a relaxing soak.

Enjoy a cup of tea.

Now....for this evenings events, we can either spend some time at the water.

Or head out to the rodeo.
You see.....even cowboys wear pink!

You choose.

See, did I not tell you that my pink weekends are always great!
Happy Pink Saturday my friends.

Did Someone Say Friday??

I can't believe how fast the week has gone.
One minute I am doing a post at the start of the week, and abracadabra.....it's the end of the week.

My daughter will be doing her University studies right through the summer this year.
So this week I have been accompanying her to the school, looking at new residences with her,
and all the necessity's in starting a new semester at University.

This week we also had a long distance trip for my daughter's check-up with her Neurosurgeon.
A six hour trip, there and back.
But a pleasant six hours spent with my sweet child.

And of course this week we had the day to day living,
with such things as groceries, paying bills, buying houses.

Yes, I know I seesaw back and forth with the whole should I buy a house, or should I wait.
I am in no hurry to purchase anything right now.  When my son graduates from high school in June then I think I can concentrate more seriously.
But I have been looking at the MLS website for a few months now,
and today I actually put a call out to my Realtor.
Let's see how that works out.
If I view any properties next week, I will take pics and show you guys.

Of course my week would not be complete without my therapeutic purchase of prettiest.
A teacup here and there.  The thrift store had a 50% off discount, so I got a few for $.75.....score!

Paid a visit to my favourite horses.
They were so happy to see me.....can't you just tell in the above pic.
They just ignore me if I don't bring carrots.....I forgot this week.....heaven's forbid!

Teacups, horses and houses.....what a week!

It was indeed a very good week.
But......looking forward to the weekend!

Country Charm

I drive by this barn so often and always admire its old, rugged charm.
So this past weekend, I pulled over and grabbed my camera.

The three buildings sit alone in the middle of farm land.

As I approach I can hear the wind rattling away with the roof top.
Making lonely eerie noises.

Birds playing around or building their nests.

I would love to go in, but am not sure what would meet me on the other side.

I wonder how many years it has stood there.
How many winter storms it has withstood or sweltering hot summers.

Happy with my afternoon exploration, I headed home.

And bought myself what all country girls should have.....some pretty flowers.

What's In Your Wallet?

The Penny Heiress

A Pocketful of Pennies
Series #1

$$$$$$$

In this series I will look at different ways to save money.
Conservative and not so conservative ways to budget.
Having financial goals vs. realistic financial goals.
When to lock away your money and when to enjoy it.

We all have our own rhythm for saving money for things we need or want.
And normally I do not post about saving money or budgeting,
however, this post is an inside look at some of the crazier methods on how I have, and do save money.
It might be helpful for some....or not.

$$$$$$$

Saving

So much can be said about saving.
So let's start with the very basic.  The very simplest.
What we all have at home and most of the time we just ignore.
Pennies.
Save your pennies....literally.
Last week I did a whimsical post on what wonderful treasures you can buy for pennies - here.
But today, let's have a look at ways to realistically save those pennies.

A few weeks ago the Canadian Government announced,
commencing in the Fall, they will no longer be producing the penny.

Almost immediately this clever, thrifty lady started to think how this can work to my advantage.
How much money can I actually accumulate by literally saving my pennies.
I pulled all the coin jars from around the house, counted and rolled all the pennies.

I was very surprised to see how much $$ it actually came too.
So last week, I was telling my Mum about my penny theory, and she happily exchanged her pennies with me for cash.
My children helped me out the same way.

Also, last week I was allowing myself $25 to spend thrifting.  Maybe buy a few vintage pretties.
Instead, I put on my walking shoes, strolled downtown to my closest bank
and exchanged this cash for rolls of pennies.
Added them to my now growing collection.
They gave these rolled pennies to me in a cute little box!
Little did I realize how heavy it was going to be walking back home with them.....the box weighed a ton!!

I am really liking this new method of saving.
We all know how fast money goes.  How easy it is to grab a $20 dollar bill and go spending.
But with rolled pennies, it is a little bit harder, not to say more work, with $20 rolled coins.  Not as disposable.
Clever, if not a little different, way of saving $$$$

This weeks count in - $103

Not bad for a bunch of pennies!

Let's see how much I count in next week.
