Abandoned

There is nothing more haunting then an abandoned building.

A shadow of a long majestic reign.

A home refusing to give into decay.
Holding on to forever.

Beauty that once was.

Echoes of a happier time.

Faded warmth.

The only thing living here now is history.

But, sometimes you can fool Mother Nature.
And beauty still remains.

Here in Blogland, were renovations rule,

we think tool belt and Anne Sloan paint would change that in no time!

Abandoned maybe, but not lost forever.

Wow, such amazing images! Haunting, yet so beautiful. I just love all the architecture, even when it is in decay.

Some of those places are just amazing. So sad that they were give up on by people.

WOW! I love all of those. It's a shame that things that beautiful were left to fall apart.

Where did you ever find these wonderful photos? They are sad but beautiful all the same. It's sad that these old mansions have fallen into ruin but I can imagine the cost of repairs would be in the millions.

Awesome pictures....I have always said that I'd love to find an Old church and revamp/renovate it into a house.
I'd love to walk through each one of those homes you showed.

Can't believe someone wouldn't want to take those on. So much beauty in those places even in their abandoned states.

Cue a round of applause. I really enjoyed this post (found through Cedar Hill Ranch). I am so intrigued with old, forlorn buildings. You said it best - there really is nothing more haunting. I just think of all the people who have passed through those places. So mystifying!

Meredith

Hello Diane,
What amazing architecture! Lots of scope for imagination to be found in those places. Thanks for sharing. I was just stopping by to let you know that your post from last week was one of the top viewed at my HOME party and so you will be one of my features tomorrow at this week's HOME party. Congratulations and have a wonderful day. I know it's very cold where you are and it's coming our way tomorrow. Stay warm, my friend!

Blessings,

It would be fun to walk through those old things and gather some true old decor. Except the swimming pool - why does that freak me out so bad?

I'm fascinated with urban decay--the abandoned buildings that are no longer loved. Great images.

All are hauntingly beautiful Diane and sure fixer uppers if one were to win the big one! You have to admire people that do have the money that bring these places back to their former state.

Hi Diane, I am your newest follower. I love Victorian houses/mansions/manors and abandoned ones always get my attention. I can see potential in almost anything and wish I could save one/restore one. I'm looking forward to looking back at your older posts. I hope you will visit me on my blog as well. Gina

Amazing beauty. So sad to see such masterpieces in ruin. It is still grand and stunning. Such craftmanship is lost today. Maybe we should all put our talents together to bring it back... Just dreaming I guess.. Thanks for sharing.
